If you have ever visited a theme park you know that admission to the park is one thing but once you get through the gates there is plenty more money to be spent. From food to souvenirs & even up-sell experiences, there are plenty of ways to spend way more than you were planning on.
Disney World is definitely a park that has tons of up-sell options but some of them are totally worth it. Here are some of my favs!
Truth be told, I’ve never actually done this one myself but my husband does it every time we go to Disney and loves it. You start with a behind the scenes tour of the massive aquarium in, the Seas with Nemo & Friends, then you get an opportunity to actually get in and SCUBA dive right in the tank. If you’re a SCUBA diver this is an amazing opportunity to see a vide variety of underwater life in a controlled environment. You might even get up close and personal with a shark! If you’re not a SCUBA diver there are other in water experience like swimming with the dolphins that you might enjoy!
Keys to the Kingdom Tour
If you consider yourself to be an expert on all things Disney and are interested in the history of both the parks & Walt himself then you will love this tour. The tour guides are amazingly knowledgeable and full of interesting facts & trivia all of which they share with you as you go on rides, tour the park & even visit the backstage area. I wish I could show you pictures but…this is a no pictures allowed tour for obvious reasons.
If you are a fan of behind the scene tours, this is just one of the many that Disney has to offer so make sure you check their website for details on others (I’ve heard backstage magic is awesome but I’ve yet to do that one.)
Firework Dessert Parties
Firework Dessert Parties have become quite popular around Disney in the past few years and they seem to always be adding new and different ones. These are definitely an added expense on top of an already expensive day but they are a lot of fun! Each one is a little bit different but essentially you get a special pass that allows you to enter an exclusive viewing area complete with drinks and snacks where you can sit comfortably and enjoy the fireworks display. Depending on which one you are attending you may also get access to a special viewing area for an associated parade, we went during Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party and got to view the parade from a prime location without having to save our spot for hours!
If you visit the parks often I probably wouldn’t recommend spending the money but if this is your one and only chance it’s totally worth it!
Seasonal Parties & Tours
If you are visiting a Disney Park during any kind of seasonal event it is definitely worth doing at least one of the special tours or parties that are offered during that time. This ranges from Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party in the fall to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party during the holidays or even the Epcot Garden’s of the World tour during the spring. Make sure to check what is being offered during your next visit because many of these need to be booked well in advance.
So, that’s my list of extras that are worth the additional money although I probably wouldn’t do all of them on the same trip 😉 Also, not all of them are kid friendly so make sure you check the rules before you book to know whether or not it’s appropriate for your little one.
