Fall Fun for Little Ones

Fall is definitely my favourite time of year!  The weather is cooler (at least it should be soon) and there are so many great family friendly activities to do!  Here are some of my favs that I know you and your little ones will love.

Go Apple Picking

Apple is definitely one of the top flavours of fall and picking your own apples is such an easy family friendly activity!  Most apple farms offer lots of other fun activities too like wagon rides and sometimes even corn mazes and playgrounds. Make sure you research your nearby apple farms online to figure out which one is right for your family.

Visit a Pumpkin Patch

Nothing says fall like a trip to a pumpkin patch!  We usually go in early October so that there’s still lots of selection. Some pumpkin patches are more like outdoor stores while others give you the opportunity to actually go out into the patch and choose your pumpkin right off the vine.

Attend a Fall Fair or Harvest Festival

We are lucky enough to live in an area where there is a fall fair almost every weekend between labour day and halloween.  If you’ve never been to a fall fair I highly recommend you go! Every one is a little different but most offer tons of activities, animals, food and even competitions.  There’s definitely tons of fun to be had!

Go on a Hike and see the Leaves

The fall is such a pretty time of year to get out and explore, especially when the leaves start changing.  So, pack a picnic (or at least a snack) and visit your favourite park or trail to enjoy the view and the nice crisp air.  Maybe your little one will even be able to jump in a pile of leaves or two.

Go on a Haunted Hayride

This one is for slightly older kids (although many do have less scary versions for little ones) but a haunted hayride is a bunch of fun. It combines the fun of halloween and harvest festivals into one spooktacular evening.

Neighbourhood Trick-or -Treat days

Halloween is sooo much fun but can sometimes be a bit much for little ones. Most cities and shopping malls offer some kind of daytime trick-or-treat activity where the shops hand out candy to little ones in costume. This is a great way to allow your toddler to have some trick-or-treat fun in a less scary environment.

There really are endless ways to enjoy the fall with your kiddos, these are just a few of my favs!  What are some of your fall time favs?
